The Seattle Chapter 19, chartered March 16, 1959, is dedicated to cultivating and perpetuating the study of Ikebana by demonstrations and public exhibitions, with a deep purpose of establishing a better relationship among all people. The chapter celebrated its 60th anniversary in June 2019. Our chapter is administered by our volunteer members.

North American Post Publishing is the oldest minority-owned publishing company in the greater Seattle Area. It was founded in 1902. Today it publishes North American Post, a newspaper focused on the local Japanese American community, and Soy Source, a Japanese-language newspaper aimed at the region's many Japanese expats.

The Okinawa Kenjin Club of Washington State celebrates and shares Okinawa’s rich cultural heritage through community programs and cultural arts, and this year we are hosting Bingata exhibits, sales, and a hands‑on workshop at our OKK booth while also welcoming a Bingata Studio and Dr. David Paly for a special preview of the 2027 Kimono & Textile Event.

We also offer new member classes, guest artist workshops, study groups, and host bonsai sales and exhibits.
Rainier Ginsha is a group of persons pursuing the way of Haiku, a part of Japanese culture. Haiku is a short form of poetry consisting of seventeen letters expressing appreciation of nature, the change of seasons, life, experiences, emotions, understanding, and even philosophy. It was established in Seattle in 1934, continued in Camp during World War II, resumed in Seattle, and is still active today. Rainier Ginsha follows the Haiku principles established by Kyoshi Takahama (Hototogisu Haiku). Two to four times a year, members' haikus are sent to Japan to be critiqued by a Hototogisu teacher. Haiku Meetings (KUKAI) are held via online “Natsugumo System”, Zoom, and face-to-face meetings once a month.

Sakura-Con is an annual anime convention held in Seattle, Washington, organized by the Asia-Northwest Cultural Education Association (ANCEA). As one of the largest anime conventions in the Pacific Northwest, it attracts thousands of attendees each year. The event features a wide range of activities, including cosplay contests, panel discussions, gaming tournaments, screenings of anime and films, concerts, and vendor halls.

Seattle Abacus School is a Japanese soroban and mental-math school based in Bellevue, WA. We teach traditional abacus techniques in a fun and supportive environment, helping children build strong math skills and confidence.
At Japan Fair 2026, we will offer a hands-on Mini “My Soroban” Workshop, where families can experience Japanese culture by creating their own abacus.
​Seattle Buddhist Temple is excited to debut at Japan Fair 2026 to announce the celebration of their 94th annual Bon Odori. An annual Seafair sanctioned community event, hosted by the Seattle Betsuin Buddhist Temple. This event includes food booths, beer garden, live entertainment, community performances, and Odori dancing! Visit their booth at Japan Fair to learn more about the history of Bon Odori, and other activities through the temple like Boy Scouts, Campfire, Dharma School, and so much more.

Japanese professional Go player, Iwamoto Kaoru Sensei created The Seattle Go Center (SGC) in 1995. We are temporarily operating from a nice space in the very popular Phinney Community Center.

Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) is the oldest and largest foreign university in Japan. Founded in 1982, TUJ has developed into a nationally recognized institution offering an extensive range of educational programs. In addition to its core undergraduate program, TUJ offers graduate programs in law, business, and education; an English-language preparation program; continuing education courses; and corporate education classes. In August 2019, TUJ relocated to its new campus in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo where it has continued to evolve into an even more international and attractive campus.
